Il Gibson Custombucker è montato di serie sulle chitarre Historic Reissue del Gibson Custom Shop, amato dai musicisti di tutto il mondo per il suo leggendario suono Patent Applied For. Anni di ricerca e test da parte degli ingegneri Gibson hanno portato allo sviluppo di una formula e di un processo che replica il suono magico dei pickup humbucker Patent Applied For degli anni 50. Ogni Custombucker utilizza dei magneti Alnico 3 per offrire un timbro dolce e caldo, che riproduce accuratamente le caratteristiche sonore dei primi humbucker tanto apprezzati. Come gli originali Patent Applied For, il Custombucker utilizza un filo AWG 42 e bobine sbilanciate, che non vengono cerate per assicurare una riproduzione storicamente accurata del pickup che soddisferà anche i chitarristi più esigenti.

As popular music roared with the fatter tones of humbuckers at the dawn of the 1970s, Fender hired acclaimed pickup designer Seth Lover to create a distinctly Fender-flavored take on a higher-output dual-coil pickup. The resulting Wide Range pickup used large bobbins and threaded CuNiFe-rod magnets to achieve its distinctively brilliant sound, as heard on that era’s Telecaster® Custom, Thinline and Deluxe guitars. Sought after by musicians of all genres for decades, the original-era real CuNiFe-magnet pickups disappeared when the Telecaster Custom was discontinued in 1979.
